Elisabeth's
mission is to investigate wrongs and educate viewers about their rights.
With each report, she makes it a point to provide "news you can
use." She never wants to bore members of her audience with information
they already know. Instead, Elisabeth digs for unique, useful advice
that will save viewers time and money. Now those same great insights
are all in one place in her book, The Savvy
Consumer. To her
amazement --and amusement-- Elisabeth is so feared in some circles,
that she sometimes has trouble hiring companies to help with her own
personal projects. They're worried they'll become the subject of one
of her exposes! Once, after a long day of shooting, Elisabeth stopped
at a convenience store for a snack. The owner followed her around the
store and demanded to know what she was doing. He just couldn't believe
Elisabeth just wanted an iced tea and a cookie! Elisabeth
joined Good Morning America in 2005. Prior to that she was the senior
investigative reporter and consumer reporter for WTTG in Washington,
DC. Before that, she worked in the popular "On Your Side"
consumer unit at WFLA in Tampa, Florida. Elisabeth began her on-air
career at KERO in Bakersfield, California in 1992. She has also worked
behind the scenes at ABC News in London. Elisabeth received a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She holds
a Master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill
School of Journalism. Elisabeth's hobbies are reading, remodeling, hiking, biking and singing. She grew up in Marin County, California and now lives in Washington, DC with husband, Kris Persinger, a financial planner, her daughter Kelsea and dog, Buddha, a ball player.
